Used to carry sight for
3" US Ordinance Rifle. Made of 5 oz. bag leather
oiled and sewn with linen thread. 2-7/8" wide x 10-1/2" tall
at top tapering sharply to the lower cylinder measuring 1-1/4" wide
x 7" long and has a leather flap secured in front with leather receiver.
Shoulder strap is attached in rear by 4 brass rivets at a 45 degree
angle measuring 60" long x 5/8" wide, fastened with 5/8"
Japanned buckle.
Note: This item was previously
misidentified as a prick and prime holder. Prick and prime wire were
carried horizontally inside the cover of the primer pouch which also
contained the lanyard.
