Our
reproduction was copied from an
original which was found on property bordering Gettysburg
National Park. It was very common
for solders to make their own ID tags instead of
paying money to a sutler. A soldier's
biggest fear was to be buried in an unmarked
grave.
Soldier ID tags
are made out
of lead and may present a health hazard, although we are
not aware of any such occurrence. We are not responsible
should any medical complications occur by the use of this
reproduction. Our
tag is
made from a flattened mini ball (.58
caliber lead bullet), attached to a leather
thong. We stamp your name, regiment and
company on the tag (stamping not shown).
NOTE:
Add $3.00 option for inscription. Please detail the inscription in the “Personalization Message” text entry before clicking the Buy button.
